What is Transdata?

Transdata is a graphical data solution that helps transform raw, disorganized data, through manipulation and calculation, into actionable business knowledge.

What is a Transdata model?

A Transdata Model is both a visual representation of the business process managed, such as a Sales Forecast, Production Plan, or Allocation Schedule, and an automation of the process itself, eliminating considerable manual efforts.

How is Transdata different from Excel, Python, or SQL ?

Transdata is intuitive and powerful so that anyone can enhance their data without learning a programming language.  If you can draw a flowchart of your task, you can build it in Transdata.

I’ve always used Excel. Why should I stop now?

Excel was built for calculations using comparatively small datasets.  It doesn’t handle large amounts of data, multiple datasets, or complex transformations well.  It also requires that you rebuild your spreadsheet for each new batch of data.
Transdata models may be reused without modification when new data is available.Transdata is an intuitive tool that makes data analysis easy to develop and easy to understand.  When you have to explain your process to your boss, we bet you’d like to have him or her be able to easily see the process involved, in addition to the results.

How long will it take me to learn Transdata?

We designed the Basic Nodes so that the vast majority of data operations that most people perform can be performed immediately upon initial use, requiring no prior knowledge.

What data formats can Transdata read / write?

Data may be imported from file formats such as Excel, .csv, .txt, and from data sources like ODBC, JSON (via REST), as well as QuickBooks online.
Exporting destinations include flat files, Excel files and ODBC.

How do I view reports?

You may view the data in the model, or use the Reporting Node to send results to a third-party application where you can create presentation-grade reports and dashboards.

Does Transdata require a really powerful computer to run on?

No.  Efficiency is important to us, so Transdata was built to be lean and effective. An average laptop can easily run models with tens of millions of rows of data in a very short amount of time.

What is the limit on data size?

There isn’t one.  By default, Transdata keeps everything in your computer’s RAM for maximum speed.  If your data is so big that this isn’t possible, it can also utilize your hard drive.

Is my data secure?

Transdata is a local application, like Excel, so your data never leaves your computer unless you send it to someone.  We do not collect any sensitive information.

Can I share models with someone else so that they can run them?

Absolutely.  Models are just files, so you can share them in a variety of manners.

I’m a power user with serious data transformation needs, what have you got for me?

Over seventy function nodes (with more being added all the time), feedback, looping, models within models, running models via scripts, time series data, and more.  If you want to write operations yourself, the Advanced Node allows up to ten formulae, internal data storage, and more.

What is ragged data?

Ragged data refers to a dataset which does not have the exact same number of columns for every row.

Do you have a trial version?

Yes.  A free trial version is available.

Do you provide training and support?

Yes. Technical Support is provided, as well as support documentation and videos on our website. We can also provide on-site training, if so required.
